So, I finally watched The Perfect Couple ( Netflix), and to be honest, I’m left with mixed feelings. The series had everything going for it—mystery, a fancy rich family, a wedding murder—yet somehow, it didn’t quite hit the mark.

The Perfect Couple on Netflix follows the story of Amelia Sacks, a bride-to-be, who is about to marry into the wealthy Winbury family when her friend is found murdered at their Cape Cod estate, just days before the wedding. The series unravels as secrets, lies, and hidden agendas emerge, complicating what should have been a joyous occasion. As the mystery deepens, each character becomes a potential suspect.

First off, let’s talk about the characters. Greer, the famous mystery writer, and her wealthy family didn’t leave much of an impression. And then there’s Amelia Sacks, the middle-class bride who’s about to marry the second son of this glamorous family when a body turns up on the beach. Now, you’d expect a protagonist in a situation like this to have some layers, right? Nope. Amelia’s just… there. Not bad, not great, just kinda existing.

Ishaan Khatter shows up as Shooter Dival, and yeah, he’s got some intrigue, but it felt like he was thrown in for diversity points. I’m all for representation, but his character didn’t bring much to the plot. He was basically there to boost viewership, especially in South Asia. Strategic move? Maybe. Meaningful addition? Not really.

Now, here’s where things get slightly better—the show’s pacing! Even with its shallow character pool, the timeline and pacing were actually engaging. The storyline didn’t drag, and the drama kept me wanting to see how things would unfold (even though I wasn’t totally invested in the characters). The star power and all the shiny, conspicuous drama gave it enough oomph to make it a fun watch.

All in all, The Perfect Couple isn’t a disaster, but it’s definitely not winning any awards for depth or memorable characters. If you’re just in the mood for a breezy, semi-thrilling series with a little bit of mystery and a lot of gloss, this one might be for you. Just don’t expect to get attached to anyone! – Jahnavi Chowdary
