There is a beautiful phrase in Japanese: Koi No Yokan.
It doesn’t mean love at first sight.
In fact, it’s something much more interesting.
It’s the feeling you get when you meet someone and somehow know that you are going to fall in love with them someday.
Not right now. Not instantly. Not because lightning struck or violins started playing in the background.
But because something inside you quietly recognizes a future that hasn’t happened yet.
You don’t love them in that moment. You just know it’s inevitable.
That eventually, somehow, your heart is going to find its way there.
I think that’s far more romantic than love at first sight. Because it isn’t about instant attraction. It’s about possibility. About that strange certainty that arrives before the feeling itself.
A quiet whisper saying: “Not yet……but someday.”
Some words don’t just describe a feeling.
They capture an entire human experience.
“Maybe the most beautiful love stories don’t begin with certainty. Maybe they begin with a feeling that certainty is on its way.”
Source of the word- novel The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon.
