Vijay’s political rise in Tamil Nadu with his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) debut has definitely become an eye-turner for everyone now.
And honestly, he entered at the perfect time.
There are a lot of young voters today who don’t really resonate with older parties like Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) anymore. Vijay has somehow positioned himself as that alternative.
But credit also has to be given to the groundwork he did long before officially launching the party. This didn’t happen overnight.
And while political change is always healthy in a democracy, it’s also interesting how someone with that level of stardom entering politics accelerated things much faster for Tamil Nadu.
For anyone else to become such a strong alternative against two deeply rooted parties, it would have taken years to build that network and reach. Vijay brought that reach instantly and in style because of his popularity.
The bigger question now is different though.
Will fans continue to see him as a star…
or will they start seeing him as a public servant once real governance begins?
Because admiration and administration are two completely different things.
What kind of Chief Minister Vijay would become, or what exactly he can deliver for Tamil Nadu ; only time can answer that.
At the same time, his manifesto has also promised a lot. In fact, even more freebies than many existing parties.
Some promises may absolutely be reasonable and helpful. But delivering every single one of them long term can also heavily strain state finances and reduce investment into other sectors that actually generate sustainable growth and revenue.
But again, not delivering those promises later would make him no different from every other politician accused of saying whatever is necessary during elections.
And maybe that’s the irony of politics here. It’s almost impossible to survive politically with only pure logic and honest oaths.
First you have to reach power… and only then can you try changing things.
