Sometimes people are more interesting when you don’t really know anything about them.

From a distance, they can become anything in our head.
We fill the gaps ourselves. We imagine depth, intelligence, personality, emotional maturity… sometimes even based on very little.

And most often, people we admire from far away often don’t feel that admirable once we actually talk to them or sometimes all it takes is one real conversation and we can’t see them the same anymore.

I’ve personally had multiple experiences like that where I imagined so much about certain people only to end up feeling disappointed after actually speaking to them.

Not because they are “bad” people necessarily…
just because the version we created in our head was far more interesting.

Sometimes one statement is enough.
One opinion.
One way they react to something.

And suddenly you realise “Okay… this is not for me.”

And weirdly, after few experiences like that, something shifts.

You stop admiring people that easily. Because now you know how much of admiration is sometimes just imagination filling empty spaces.

But at the same time, those moments weirdly boost confidence too. Sometimes after talking to people you admired so much, you walk away realising… ‘Wait. I actually like who I am more.’

And maybe that’s not disappointment after all. Maybe it’s clarity.

Any similar experiences you all can recall? Would love hearing them.
