Why Instagram Doesn’t Feel the Same Anymore

I don’t know exactly when it changed… but Instagram just doesn’t hit the same anymore.

There was a time when I had to actively control how much time I spent on it.
Because once you start scrolling reels or posts, it was very hard to stop.

Now?

I can barely stay on it for even 10 minutes continuously.

And in a way… that’s good, I guess. Less distraction, more time saved.

But at the same time, I keep wondering ‘ what really happened?’

It’s not just about me getting busy. Something about the app itself feels different.

Normal people (non influencers or celebrities) don’t really post much anymore.
The feed doesn’t feel personal. It feels… curated, pushed and algorithm driven.

You watch one random reel out of curiosity, and suddenly for the next two days your entire feed is filled with the same kind of content.

Over and over again. Until you’re just… irritated.

And then you either stay away from Instagram, or you try to “fix” your feed by searching for different things. But even that doesn’t seem to work properly anymore. You just can’t control what you can watch there.

It used to feel like a space where you could see snippets of people’s lives,
a little window into real moments. Now it feels more like… content overload.

Endless, repetitive, and somehow less meaningful.

Instagram used to be one of my favourite apps. Now, I don’t even think I have a favourite app anymore.

It’s strange how something that once felt so engaging can slowly start feeling so distant.

Maybe it’s the algorithm. Maybe it’s the way content has evolved.
Or maybe we just outgrow certain digital spaces without realising it.

Whatever the reason is… it just doesn’t feel the same anymore.

And maybe that’s okay too.
